  1. New cockpit shelf and more deck beam work.

Got into the shop to finish up the cockpit shelf for the Starboard side. When setting and drilling holes for fasteners inboard yesterday, we noticed it splitting. I found a suitable piece of scrap Locust just barely big enough to fashion the piece from. It's a compound curve, both along the curve of the cockpit and fore and aft.

It also has notches outboard for the deck beams and ...

  2. Setting deck beams finally...

Another rainy day in the shop. I received some fasteners from Jamestown Dist. and started working on actually bolting down some deck beams. We had soaked the clamp with Ethylene Glycol a few weeks ago and followed up by plugging the bottoms of the bolt holes today and filling them with CPES. I also sanded the old paint off and brushed a coat on for good measure. We then coated the deck beam end with it as well.

Took a drive up to Oh Joy before the game since I haven't been since last weekend. I scraped some paint aft and applied more stripper. While I was there, I made up another foredeck beam. Then I started checking them for curvature and uniform height across the entire foredeck. I used a very square floor board to measure.

  4. Shore water

Now that I am living on board I decided to hook up shore water. It was not hard really I just tee'd into the water line at the pressure or expansion tank and ran a tube up to the stern of the boat. As I do not have a shore fitting to install yet I just ran the tube thru one of the aft cowl vents and installed a tube to garden hose setup. I originally had a Perko in line regulator but it froze and cracked this weekend the first weekend I have had this set up lol. Ok so first problem.

  5. Cleaning up the clamp...

Back to the boat today to work on that clamp again. I tried using the electric planer but no joy as it was too big to fit so it was the old school way with hammer and chisel. After we got it close, we went at it with the sander.

Notice the fitment of the new deck beams?
