    I'll let it cure and then plane and fill as needed. I'm thinking of running a couple of bolts down through the center of the joints for insurance. Once I'm done with this, we can go forward ...

  2. Got the clamp sawn, planed and set in, finally...

    Over the past couple of weeks, I've been working on fabrication of the clamp to replace the rotted section next to the chainplates which prompted this tear down. I made a new clamp using three pieces laminated together with MAS epoxy and then planed and shaped.



    Then, using the bandsaw, I set the notches.

  3. Thawing out

    I have been telling myself I need to do these blog entries at least every couple of days but somehow never get to it. Of course I could get to it I just need to bump it up on the priority list. We will see.
    The first couple of weeks of this winter have been just awful as most anyone in the US knows. It has been so bad the marina iced over which is unheard of here and my reverse cycle heating unit froze up. I finally figured out that if I put a small space heater in the compartment with ...

  4. Oops! or how to turn a $60 board to sawdust....

    I went up and worked some more on that clamp section. After jointing, planing etc. to get it looking good, I realized all I did was waste a $60 piece of wood. The width is fine but the height is 1/8" shy of what I need.

  5. Happy New Years

    Crap we are starting another century already! Seems like we just went through all that y2k crap and here we are 10 years later. Well in that time i have completed 3 project boats (ok so the one I am on now is not technically complete.) I have had the idea for Project Boat Zen lurking in the dark depths of my mind for a long time now and I am finally doing something about it. So with the start of this new year and this new decade I hope to get it fully going once and for all.
